As we enter the dog days of summer, I can safely say that it was not a very good one weather-wise here in Toronto. Apprently we got more rain than Vancouver!!! It would seem that our opportunities to really get crazy drunk and sweat balls and possibly get arrested were kept to a minimum. Oh well, I honestly can say that it was probably for the best since I could work at home without A/C which hasn't been possible in a long time.
I just added the Jerk It t-shirts to our online store. Go BUY one. There's literally only 10 of them left.
We will have a big announcement in the next week or two. I can't wait to tell yall! It has to do with our album and whos putting it out.... as well as upcoming tours in Europe and Canada. YEAH!
Random shit:

Yours truly did his first ever crowd surf at Hillside in Guelph
The Jerk It 12" is coming out next week!!! They will be available many places online, which I will link here. I'm about to set up our shop to sell the limited run T-shirts and CDs that we had made for the release.
Well Hillside Fest was insane. We drove there Saturday afternoon because our show was at 6pm. We made it with about an hour to spare. After setting up merch, we walked over to tent where we were to perform. When we walked in, I think Plants and Animals were performing. The entire audience was sitting cross-legged and we suddenly started shitting our pants at the situation. Not only that but the guy that played in between acts simply had an acoustic guitar and was playing some very folksy songs....which is COOL and all but I was really wondering how badly we were being set up to fail.
Well, I was 100% wrong. The kids that came to see us got into it right away and it infectiously spread to anyone else in the tent. This was definately one of our favorite shows EVER. The sight of hundreds of people bouncing up and down for a good part of our set really made us smile. And now I present to you videos to illustrate just how nuts it was. Thank you to Hillside and hopefully we'll see you next year? I'm camping next time.

See that glazed out look in my eyes...yep..I was on auto pilot. Also check the new TH Tee!
I'm not ready to talk about the events surrounding last Fridays' performance at Foufs. In fact, I still don't really know what happened. I just know that I blacked out for 3 hours... including an apparent 1 hour dj set... and lost my iPhone (again). Let's just call it bizarro world Thunderheist cause Isis was sober and I was wylin out like it was prom night. Hope yall had fun cause I sure as shit don't remember!
We are at Hillside festival tommorow which is apparently SOLD OUT as of a few days ago... crazy! And if you're in Toronto tonight, please come check me out at NONSTOP at the Drake Underground for my monthly dj night with Fistfight and special guest CFCF from montreal.
Next week we still start offering these Jerk It Tees that were designed by our favorite Swedish playboy, Arthur Roing. Stay tuned...

Ladies and Gentlemen,
The day is upon us!!

If you submitted one, please contact us by email to ensure that we have your contact info. We have those who mailed us digitally but some of yall gave us DVDs at shows and we dont necessarily have your emails.
The two runners up will also get a nice care package in the mail curteousy of yours truly.
We had over 2400 votes (!!!) from all over the world. You probably are not aware but the videos really made the rounds and it's still spreading through word of mouth.

This is pretty much exactly what I was hoping would come out. You see, when I'm stuck in an airport, or on the train or in a hotel for long periods of time, I need to make beats. Now, there's a way to use the laptop keyboard to play notes, but it's totally rubbish. i've been looking at midi controllers but they are always super bulky and would not fit in my serato bag. And it was frustrating cause theres no need for that added bulk. just put some keys on a thing and bam, hook me up. Well Korg is coming thru. As you can see they are the same width as a macbook so it should fit in my bag no probs!!!
WANT.

So the video contest is going great! We've had about 1400 votes since Friday and I love how many opinions we have gotten on the site. Yall seem to really care what happens and that warms up my little heart. The contest will run until July 1st. The reason for this is to allow time for votes to come in from all over the place... It's also going to time well because our 12" is going to drop about a week and a half later.
Man I had a great weekend in MTL. Friday night I DJed at this b-day party for a friend of a friend. It was all models and fashionistas. Beautiful people. You know, nobody understands how hard it is to be really really ridiculously good looking. GASOLINE FIGHT! Also, Mitsous sister was there. She is very nice and dances like nobodies business. She was almost crushed by a chair that was hanging from the ceiling. We all had quite a scare. Saturday was spent on many terrasses of St-Lo as the street was closed for Grand Prix. There was a BBQ on the roof of Tokyo which had some tasty ass burgers. Ran into a million people... Mana was on acid. Have you ever seen a Burger on ACID? It's like the burger is talking to you!!!! It seems like everyone was out that day. And man, it was hot as shit! I always forget how exhausting it is to live in that neighborhood cause there's always booze involved!!! Sunday I DJed at Blue Dog with the homey Grand Theft and Brendon Duvall. Highlight of that night was GT playing all 80s new wave and freestyle (except the fact that I had planned to do just that, fucking bastard!) and me faceplanting off the DJ booth onto the concrete floor. I gave myself an 8 out of 10. I would have had more points but no one saw me do it and so I just had to scrape myself off the floor and hobble off to the bathroom to check for broken bones. When I got back to the DJ booth I told GT what happened and he was like 'Are you OK?' and I was like 'I NEED BOOZE STAT'. So he got me some shots and I proceeded to DJ in sheer agony. I bet people thought I just have one of those intense DJ steez. They are wrong, I was hurtbag. Also, every single night was topped off with Poutine or cheeseburgers. I gained about 40 pounds.
I fucking hate FAt Boy sLim but this video rulez.

Shows
Lee's Palace was set aflame by our show with freinds Vitaminsforyou and Bonjay! Pics can be found at TakeMorePhotos and Eye Weekly and a write-up can be found here courtesy of Ben Boles. 600+ people showed up to party with us. We had dancers (shouts to swagger crew), pyrotechnics and a moving stage that I've dubbed "the thunder dome". Definately one of our favorite shows ever and so much love was in the crowd, it almost brought a tear to my eye!!! Thank you for being part of this experience and we look forward to doing it again!
Sunday was spent dans la belle province at the newly renovated Blue Dog Motel. My boys, Team Canada bought it out and are throwing ill jams on Sundays. The sound system is incroyable and people were super rowdy for a sunday night. Only in Montreal. esti.
Video Contest
All the submissions are in and we are still going through them. We want to narrow it down to the top 3 in the next week before we go on tour (more on the tour below). We had a shitload of submissions and most of them are really well put together. It really amazes me how much effort everyone put into this and I'm kinda humbled by the whole thing. We will be placing our favorite top 3 on the site with a voting system real soon.
T-SHIRTS
We have restocked and have added a few new sizes. If we learned anything is that these Men's mediums go like hotcakes so dont wait too long to pick these up!
JERK IT 12"
All of the remixes are done. They are currently being mastered. The artwork is done. We are getting real close people. I think it's really tough to decide which remix is best, they are all really awesome in their own way.

YES YES! We are about to embark on a 5 city US tour (LA-ATL-CHI-PHI-NYC) with these awesome dudes from the UK. The best part for you all is that these shows are FREE OF CHARGE. You just have to RSVP here:

A few things:
Our Jerk It contest has been extended until April 7th. There was so many requests for an extension and so we felt compelled to give an extra week. We didnt want to overdo the extension however since we know alot of you probably cut things out in order to get it in on time. Trying to do best of both worlds here...
Now some of you have been asking how to get these videos to us. You can either
a) Upload them to Sendspace or Zshare or some other big file host, or you can mail it to the following address:
c/o Thunderheist Video
1458 Queen St. W, #5
Toronto ON M6K 1M2
Secondly we have a few very important shows coming up, including our first one in Toronto in 2008. We are going all out with this show and so we want to make sure everyone comes out to this!!! Our friends Bonjay and Vitamins for you will be performing LIVE. And we got DJ Caff on the decks between acts.
Do us both a favor and pick up your tickets in advance, you'll save money and we can sleep easier knowing how many people are coming!! Tickets are available at Rotate This, Soundscapes and Ticketmaster.

NEED.
The KORG DS-10 is a music-creation software for the
Nintendo DS that combines the superior interface of the Nintendo DS and
the design concept of the famous MS-10 synthesizer.
The sound
sources in the KORG DS-10 come from KORG - one of the world's top
musical instrument producers - and no effort was spared in creating
these ultra-high-quality sounds. The Nintendo DS's dual-screen touch
panel is used to the fullest to provide a feel and operability that is
unsurpassed, and combined with the sensory input mode at the
touch-control screen, this unit can be appreciated by the complete
novice as well as the seasoned professional.
In addition to the
two analog synth simulators and drum module, a 6-track/16-step
sequencer enables precise control and provides a wide range of musical
possibilities. Several units can be connected and played together
through a wireless link, and this and other features make the Nintendo
DS and KORG DS-10 almost limitless in their application - they can take
you places that no single synthesizer can.

Well!
We did our first shows since January. Felt good to be back out there!! I tell you there's a serious depression that sets in after travelling constantly for a year and then suddenly stopping. Speaking of travelling, we are not going to SXSW next week. Why, you ask? Well, one of us (hint rhymes with crisis) has some visa issues that aren't going to be resolved in time. Therefore we had to cancel everything. Sucks because we were super stoked to blow shit up down there. Definately check out our canadian homies that will be all over the place.
Now for some good news: the Jerk It 12" is coming along nicely with 2 out of the 3 remixes having been handed in! We're still waiting on the Nacho Lovers who had computer problems this week. Speaking of which, Megasoid has put their remix on a new mixtape so you can check it out here:

It slays!!!
POSTED BY G. ZILLA
As Isis mentioned last week, we're having a video competition for our forthcoming 12" Jerk It. This release will feature by some of our favorite Canadian producers, namely: Jokers of the Scene, Nacho Lovers and Megasoid. We're offering you the opportunity to create the official video for this song which will inevitably get airplay on Much Music, MTV and who knows where else.
Here's the rules:
1- Be creative!
2- No leaking of the video before we have judged and decided a winner to the contest.
3- No content that will get the video banned from the networks. We need something usable here!
The prize:
1- Braggin rights as the first producer for a Thunderheist video.
2 - Worldwide exposure on TV and the internet.
3 - We will submit this video whenever any TV interviews need footage.
Deadline: April 1st, 2008
Download the song here: http://www.thunderheist.com/videocontest/ (Sorry for the low quality but we need to keep it safe for now)
Please submit your completed video to Thunderheist [at] thunderheist [dot] com as soon as possible!

James Jamerson.
He was the uncredited bassist on most of Motown Records'
hits in the 1960s and early 1970s (Motown did not list credits on their
releases until 1971), and he has become regarded as one of the most
influential bass guitar players in modern music history.
Jamerson's discography at Motown reads as a catalog of soul hits of the 1960s and 1970s. His work includes Motown hits such as, among hundreds of others, "Shotgun" by Jr. Walker & the All Stars, "For Once in My Life" by Stevie Wonder, "Going to a Go-Go" by The Miracles, "My Girl" by The Temptations, "Dancing in the Street" by Martha and the Vandellas, "I Heard It Through the Grapevine" by Gladys Knight and the Pips, and later by Marvin Gaye, and most of the album What's Going On by Marvin Gaye, "Reach Out I'll Be There" by The Four Tops, and "You Can't Hurry Love" by The Supremes.
He is reported to have played on some 95% of Motown recordings between
1962 and 1968. He eventually performed on nearly 30 No. 1 pop hits --
surpassing the record commonly attributed to The Beatles. On the R&B charts, nearly 70 of his performances went to the top.
Jamerson is noted for expanding the role of the bass in popular music, which until that time largely consisted of root notes, fifths and simple repetitive patterns. By contrast, many of Jamerson's bass lines for Motown were more melodic, more syncopated, and more improvisational than had been heard before. His bass playing was considered an integral part of the "Motown Sound".

Blogging is so 2002.
That being said, Isis has been blogging up a storm lately. And I was thinking to myself, if this girl is gonna pour her heart out to the world in text form, it may as well be done on our damn website!!!
So now we have a full blog engine. With comments and all. You can reach ISIS' new superblog through the menu at the top or directly by going here. It's worth it cause not all of her posts will end up on the home page:
www.thunderheist.com/isis
I also have one as well. But definately not as exciting or regularly updated as Icey ICe.
www.thunderheist.com/grahmzilla
Also, we were selected as one of CBC's top 10 bands to watch in 2008!! We're in good company, but inevitably, there can be only one winner. You can vote for us over here. We also recently did a short live set for Sun TV in Toronto from which the above picture was taken. That should be entertaining!
Oh and please leave comments to this entry so I can see that my work does not go to waste!!!
Check this crazy fucking instrument that BJork tours with. NEED ONE.

So I'm sitting in a Second Cup in Ottawa, our nation's capital, waiting for Linus and Chris to get back from Vancouver, our nations drug capital. We're doing this little shin-dig tonight with Mr. Paul Devro of Mad Decent fame as well as previously mentioned Jokers of the Scene. Speaking of which, have you heard their last few remixes? Badonkers. Anyhoo, I am bored out of my skull and so here I sit trying to get inspired. It's not working. However, theres this one dude that spoke to me about how he works for the government and thinks that I better not be sending his information out (points to the ceiling) there. Okay Mulder, please step away from the Soy Mocha Capuccino Latte Smoothie. Okay and just now an old guy with a guitar case sat down next to me and said, and I shit you not, 'Are you in the Mafia? Are you in the Mafia? Are you in the Mafia? Are you in the Mafia?'. I said yes. I also had the sketchiest Shish Taouk of my life. The man who made the sandwich also handles the cash. No gloves, just plain old bacteria. Gross.
As we enter the deep throws of winter (but really though, where is the freezing cold winters of my youth), Thunderheist is hibernating with only the occasional exodus to somewhere equally snowy. Slowly but surely figuring out which songs and which label(s) we will be putting out our EP and/or LP with. There have been murmurs about who will be lucky enough to put our music out and some of these rumors just might be truthiness. Expect a big announcement very soon!!! There's also rumor of another 12" featuring remixes by a bunch of our favorite canadian producers.
I have been watching alot of quality shows lately. My short-list: Dexter (fuck you Doakes), The Wire (all 4 seasons...again), Curb your enthusiasm (pret-ty pret-ty good) as well as The Office which has me laughing so hard (thats what she said...or he said... i never know). It's official: Streaming TV is the best thing about the internet.
No blog entry would be complete without a little shameless self-promotion:
