Dancing = fits the song and i can picture on MTV/Much. best one for this track, hands down.
Chicken = looks really cool but really doesn't fit the song..and it gets boring after a minute. meh. it would be cool at an art show but not for a music video. and plus, the chicken looks really unhappy :<

I keep going back to it and I don't know why. It should be boring, but it sticks in my mind. Maybe it's the beautiful hapa (half-asian) chicken girl. Or am I just being a typical man and thinking with my, uh..., rooster? Do women find this video as fascinating to watch?
Whatever it is, "ThatGo" have made something unlike any other video I've ever seen. Congratulations to them, even if they don't win this contest.

Anyway, when he got back home from the shoot, he said it was totally cool. The girl was gentle with him and he enjoyed being on camera, especially since it was hi-def. And he won't quit humming that song. And he keeps saying the, "booty booty booty booty" part over and over. You know, a lot of people don't understand that this is traditional way chickens are held in barnyards around the world, by the ankles I'm saying. It's so we don't spur you, mostly. It's really not a big deal. I usually just hang there until it's over these days, but many chickens want to get back upright. That's what Caleb was doing. I dunno, I guess I'm used to it. I wish they'd stop stealing my eggs though. Oh speaking of eggs, Caleb and the wrangler got to hang out over at the craft services table wile the film guys fiddled with the camera and lighting and stuff. He said it was awesome, and he doesn't even eat sandwiches usually. So all in all it sounds like a great day for him. Baaah, damn, now I'm humming it too.

He was on set with a hen of his and had his chicken stuff with him and soft landing ground for the shots. He was a bit tired at the end of the day but went home to his flock of 14 girls and acted like nothing happened. He is a Blue Cochin crossed with a Blue Laced Red Wyandotte and free ranges over 7 acres so he lives a good life. He is now 4 years old and running strong as protector of the flock. So no chickens were harmed.

I think the other two videos would be good in any other context, but they had the misfortune to go up against the chicken video, which is just so striking. If a video is supposed to promote a song and a group, I think you have to go with chicken as it will draw so much more attention. It is phenomenon-grade because it is so visually striking and evocative and artistic and unique. People are emailing it to their friends all over and it's out on the blogs. The others aren't. The others would just be lost in the sea of thousands of videos. I also think that the number of people who would consider this to be animal cruelty would be greatly outweighed by the people who thought the whole thing was totally cool. Even if there is some amount of protest buzz from animal people, I bet most of the people who would decide to seek out the video because of that kind of buzz (no such thing as bad publicity) would say, "Huh, I wouldn't call that cruelty," and would then say, "that's so cool," and would forward it to friends. Not everyone is into this style of music, but you'd hit so many more people who are this way and they'll be interested in hearing your other music. Go chicken!

It captures the feeling of the song. The chicken vid looks good but it doesn't capture the music and the city and the pure joy and infectiousness of the song.

The cinematography starts out beautiful in the first scene with the girl with pink pants in the subway, great lighting and color. Unfortuantely, visually it was downhill from there. After a while, I found the video a bit too corny and laughable, in way that was too seperate from the song.
In fact, the video is general and does nothing to highlight "Jerk It" whatsoever.
Second video, the "chicken video", is strongest in both style, visuals, and concept. This is not simply because it was shot on HD, that's besides the point. The strobing inverts of animal skin, her "cobra" gold shirt, rainbow zebra tights, feathers--it's raw animalistic sexuality. Fierce in a way--which is creating a sizzling atmosphere for the song itself. It's all about the rise, the build up, not about the climax itself. The slow pace is perfect--tension! Simplicity wins.
The second video is surely a hot one that will stay in your memory and definitly stands out.
There's not much to say about the third video, it's rather dull unless you were at that particular show. Concert live footage edited to become music videos look all the same, so what's the point? Besides, this one wasn't edited in any unique or interesting way. It was difficult for me to even finish watching it and I love Thunderheist. So I wonder what television viewers would do if this came on?

there are a lot of people who may be offended by this kind of representation.
also, besides the thunderheist logo (which looks siiiick in the 3rd vid by the way) you could easily take out the audio and play it to any other song.there is nothing unique to the song itself. "jerk it" is dancing. and there is such a buildup and then nothing. kinda lame. was it a school project re-edited for a thunderheist music video? the first and third video do the song justice. if you don't want a concert video for your music video then go for the first one. but, the third one is the best concert video i've ever seen in my life and i would give whoever made it cred and use it for some kind of promo/epk package.
just a thought.

the cobrasnake t-shirt in the chicken video? i dunno just seems like its trying too hard. did they read hipsterrunoff and try and make a video to suit its taste?

First one = It's ok. Lot of work, but quite cliché. Asian guy is hot though.
Second one = Amazing. To me, it's clearly the winner.
Third one = Out of the bunch Thunderheist received, I just don't understand how this one qualified. Last week, I've seen 2 other videos that were submitted but not chosen for the top 3, although they really kicked ass. That's why I'm so mystified by the fact that the 3rd one is a finalist. Has probably been made by friends of the band or something. I don't get it.

Author: Anonymoose Date: 2008-06-09 22:42:31 The first video is nice, but looks like someone went out with a handycam and a tripod, fueled by an overused concept (contagion, see 5-billion commercials about contagious kindness, contagious anger, etc). Obviously someone knows someone in a dance department, because the dancers are great. Colors are nice too, but I'm kinda meh on the concept.
Second is one of the most unique music videos I have ever seen. Probably the most conceptually strong, and I 100% disagree with whoever said it was 1-Dimensional. The problem with the other vids is that they utilize widely available ideas and equipment (anyone can go pick up a DV cam these days), and this one definitely goes above and beyond in polish and conceptual execution.
Third vid is your standard POV concert vid. Drinking thing (see Prodigy "Smack My Bitch Up" etc. etc.) was lame, and overall seemed poorly produced.
Anyhow, after watching these videos multiple times, I'm unable to get this awesome song out of my head. Sorry for the long windedness, but I have been thinking a lot about these and had to get it out of my head.

I wish they'd stop stealing my eggs though. He was on set with a hen of his and had his chicken stuff with him and soft landing ground for the shots. He was a bit tired at the end of the day but went home to his flock of 14 girls and acted like nothing happened. He is a Blue Cochin crossed with a Blue Laced Red Wyandotte and free ranges over 7 acres so he lives a good life. He is now 4 years old and running strong as protector of the flock. So no chickens were harmed.

I think the other two videos would be good in any other context, but they had the misfortune to go up against the chicken video, which is just so striking. If a video is supposed to promote a song and a group, I think you have to go with chicken as it will draw so much more attention. It is phenomenon-grade because it is so visually striking and evocative and artistic and unique. People are emailing it to their friends all over and it's out on the blogs. The others aren't. The others would just be lost in the sea of thousands of videos. I also think that the number of people who would consider this to be animal cruelty would be greatly outweighed by the people who thought the whole thing was totally cool. Even if there is some amount of protest buzz from animal people, I bet most of the people who would decide to seek out the video because of that kind of buzz (no such thing as bad publicity) would say, "Huh, I wouldn't call that cruelty," and would then say, "that's so cool," and would forward it to friends. Not everyone is into this style of music, but you'd hit so many more people who are this way and they'll be interested in hearing your other music. Go chicken!

The cinematography starts out beautiful in the first scene with the girl with pink pants in the subway, great lighting and color. Unfortuantely, visually it was downhill from there. After a while, I found the video a bit too corny and laughable, in way that was too seperate from the song.
In fact, the video is general and does nothing to highlight "Jerk It" whatsoever.
Second video, the "chicken video", is strongest in both style, visuals, and concept. This is not simply because it was shot on HD, that's besides the point. The strobing inverts of animal skin, her "cobra" gold shirt, rainbow zebra tights, feathers--it's raw animalistic sexuality. Fierce in a way--which is creating a sizzling atmosphere for the song itself. It's all about the rise, the build up, not about the climax itself. The slow pace is perfect--tension! Simplicity wins.
The second video is surely a hot one that will stay in your memory and definitly stands out.
There's not much to say about the third video, it's rather dull unless you were at that particular show. Concert live footage edited to become music videos look all the same, so what's the point? Besides, this one wasn't edited in any unique or interesting way. It was difficult for me to even finish watching it and I love Thunderheist. So I wonder what television viewers would do if this came on?

there are a lot of people who may be offended by this kind of representation.
also, besides the thunderheist logo (which looks siiiick in the 3rd vid by the way) you could easily take out the audio and play it to any other song.there is nothing unique to the song itself. "jerk it" is dancing. and there is such a buildup and then nothing. kinda lame. was it a school project re-edited for a thunderheist music video? the first and third video do the song justice. if you don't want a concert video for your music video then go for the first one. but, the third one is the best concert video i've ever seen in my life and i would give whoever made it cred and use it for some kind of promo/epk package.

Last week, I've seen 2 other videos that were submitted but not chosen for the top 3, although they really kicked ass. That's why I'm so mystified by the fact that the 3rd one is a finalist. Has probably been made by friends of the band or something. I don't get it.

Obviously someone knows someone in a dance department, because the dancers are great. Colors are nice too, but I'm kinda meh on the concept.
Second is one of the most unique music videos I have ever seen. Probably the most conceptually strong, and I 100% disagree with whoever said it was 1-Dimensional. The problem with the other vids is that they utilize widely available ideas and equipment (anyone can go pick up a DV cam these days), and this one definitely goes above and beyond in polish and conceptual execution.
Third vid is your standard POV concert vid. Drinking thing (see Prodigy "Smack My Bitch Up" etc. etc.) was lame, and overall seemed poorly produced.
Anyhow, after watching these videos multiple times, I'm unable to get this awesome song out of my head. Sorry for the long windedness, but I have been thinking a lot about these and had to get it out of my head.
